Sword of Sodan is not a very likely run for anyone to try because it’s extremely awkward with stiff controls and the hit detection is nothing short of crazy. There are games that are hard but they have a good flow to them. Sword of Sodan is a nightmare for any gamer that has a short fuse and is easily annoyed by clunky controls and unfair hit detection.
The game has very good graphics when compared to most other games that were released back in 1990 for the Genesis/Mega Drive, but the rest is like an accident that is not waiting to happen, it’s happening one hit after another and if you close your eyes while listening to the game, the last thing you imagine is that there are medieval fights going on.
The cemetery stage with the zombies is one of the redeeming qualities of the game as it kind of reminds you of a blend between Ghosts ‘N Goblins and the Cementery stage in moonwalker.
The good news is that there is no such a thing as a bad game for speedruning and the harder and the more frustrating it is, the more props given to the speedrunner. Goati_ has create a run that is still unchallenged and definitely worth watching.
